The 25-year Innovative Product Award goes to Harvoni
The Prix Galien Canada Jury have chosen Harvoni (sofosbuvir/ledipasvir) as the 25-year Innovative Product Awardee. Harvoni (Gilead Sciences Canada) represents the first licensed antiviral drug that provided a cure of a major chronic viral disease, hepatitis C, with a relatively short course of oral therapy. From a public health perspective, this is a remarkable advance in therapeutics with the potential to eradicate hepatitis C in Canada in the foreseeable future.
